Mystic and Fairytales

Madonna and the small devils

In 2012, the Vemork Powerplant had an major maintenance and upgrade, which meant that the water had to be led back to its original river and Rjukanfossen in Telemark had full water flow. Normally there is no water here.

We had to take the opportunity to get up here for photography. We got many pictures from this trip that went through Vrådal, Dalen Hotell and over Rauland to Rjukan.

When we arrived, it turned out that this was the day of the annual "Marispelet", played here on top of the Rjukan Falls in late July. It is a spectacular theater, where the waterfall is released in the last act. It meant that there was a not parking, but with a nice talk with one of the guides, we were allowed to park on a bus pocket, if we promised not to spend too long. It was enough that we got a little stressed and not quite what was stuck on memory card. So, it was the first the day after, when I uploaded the pictures to the PC, that I could see what I had taken a picture of.

I was delighted with enthusiasm, because this is probably one of my very best pictures, and a series of pictures that I am both fond of and proud to have taken.

Notice the formations in the mountain side on the left side. Here is the silhouette of a woman, Madonna. Do you study the oceans in the waterfall, you see at least two faces.  Just simply ugly, yes, so we sense the little ones in tales and adventures. Perhaps it's the devils who enchanted Mari and pranked her here in the waterfall, such as has rooted in the saga of Mari.

Mist

After returning to Norway from the Philippines, I stayed with my mother for a period, who loved getting out on car trips. And, then, far into the inner settlements in southern Norway.

This day in October 2010 we had been on a long trip, from Fevik, via Birkeland to Herefoss, up to Hynnekleiv, and Risdal in Mykland, to return home just before sunset. Mom loved watching the scenery and often came in with inspiration for good motives. She liked being my photo assistant and was probably my creative origin. She liked to draw and paint, knit and crochet. And,  when she saw this mist in the forrest, she asked what is this white in there? I saw it and stopped the car in a hurry and jumped out, rigged up the tripod and got the correct lens.

Not long afterwards, I received another beautiful picture of clouds, beautifully colored by the sunset, which reflected pink in the water.

I have included this picture during the collection of pictures for mystic and farytails because it has such an adventurous atmosphere. It's almost so you can wait for the trolls to pop out every moment, or that an elk is going to migrate, or a tiur starts his game. There are moods like this, which must have provided much of the foundation for people's beliefs, adventures and tales, which is such an important part of our culture and heritage.

The Troll that hunting the dogs

We were on a trip to Stavanger this year, and today's goal was the Preikestolen. We sat on deck at the ferry to Tau and played with camera. And that's when I saw these cloud formations as if you look a little close, and have some free imagination, do you see the troll that chases the wolves over the Ryfylke mountains?

The Seadog

During the storm Nina, January 2015, I dressed up, packed the equipment and brought me the dog to try to get some nice wave paintings out there, far on Flekkerøy in Kristiansand.

Now it's so that when wind blowing on west, for natural reasons, we do not get as big waves as I want to take pictures of, but that's what it's like now. So, I was lying out here, knowing the smell of th sea, the wind grabbed what's left of the lug and just relaxing and enjoying myself. So by one, the sun breaks through the skylight and creates a wonderfully beautiful light. Fortunately, I'm with a camera to the eye and snap in my way. When I get home and look through my almost 700 photos from the trip this day, I find a lot of nice and a lot of strange, but it is especially this picture that has this beautiful light, the colors and this shape of a dog in the waves.
