Vesterveien

Everything is about playing and then it helps with a little creativity and luck. This picture got an extra dimension as an ambulance came out of the west tunnel tunnel and set off the Setersdals road. I stand up at the viewpoint of Baneheia and directs the camera towards Kristiansand harbor and Vesterveien.

Vesterveien is the western entrance or exit of Kristiansand, going to western part of Norway.

Marvika

Again it's about playing, being creative and seeing the possibilities as something as ugly and noisy as E-18 into Kristiansand (for that matter, roads are not pretty) can be done exciting and fun. Here I am at Meny Albert, just a few kilometers from where I live.
In order to take pictures with long lights, there must be a certain amount of darkness, but the most critical is traffic. So on a busy Sunday night when people are coming home from a long weekend in the cabin, or there has been football game at the stadium, then there are opportunities to get something like this here.

Feviktoppen by night

Everybody has to start somewhere, and sometimes one must be careful about what one has available. In many ways one must think about photography as with sport. To be good, very good, then you have to work very much, many times a day and every day. As one grows older, of course, there is a lot of routines in the fingers, but all the time there comes new technology, new programs, everything has to be learned and maintained.

Fevik is not the world's navel, which poses some challenges for taking long exposure photos. There is a need for critical mass of cars that pass in very few seconds you can allow to keep the shutter open. And, Fevik is a sleeping city where it rarely is a traffic mass that makes it possible to get exciting results.  However, it was what I had at this time.

Strandsvingen by night

Being self-made must certainly be well-known! However, it is often a very time consuming and not least a process that requires patience and gives many mistakes. The picture "Strandsvingen by night" is my first game with long light and long exposure. It is taken from Tykkåsen at Fevik in Grimstad municipality.

Colosseum by night

One of the joys of being interested in photo is that this hobby can I bring wherever I go in the world. And, playing with lights just gets more and more fun after where bigger cities and more traffic and large buildings are found. In Rome, one gets in addition with another dimension, the historical perspective. Tearing around these historic places, end it's daytime or night time, it gives great inspiration. Perhaps it is because, as an artist, I have an emotional personality, but walking around among these historic buildings gave a sense of hearing thousands of sandals of soldiers and slaves, walking temporarily everywhere.
Rome is a historical city, a city for which I will make my own travel letter. The combination of delicious warmth, historical reason, architecture, religion and the great city life. This is a city I long for.

Geiranger by night

On our tour to the western part of Norway in 2012, we arrived late at Geiranger and got room at Hotel Union. A hotel with a lot of history situated high above Geiranger Geiranger in the middle of the Geirangerfjord. So there was a nice dinner in the restaurant here before we went bikkja and got laid. And, for one who sleeps like a cowboy, the opportunity was already early in the morning to play with a camera on the balcony of the hotel room.

Firedancer

Taking a picture like this is purely phototechnical very easy compared to the performance of theperforming dancer, Freddie A. Alviola. He must stand still, one hundred percent. Otherwise it will not work. Only the arms carry the flame that may be in motion. Freddie has told me that many have tried to take a similar picture to what you see here, but nobody has done it. This could be because I met the settings this evening, or that Freddie had a good day and stood still. The nice thing was that I got up there without any agreement and rise up the tripod and camera and strart playing. Then, Freddie discovered me and got away to see how the photos became. He smiled wondering when he saw them and asked if I could take someone because he had practiced some more formations. And, since it was still early evening, we set off. There were many pictures, and Freddie and his "dance group" got their copies.

To me, these pictures give me the greatest pleasure just because I know that these have meant a lot of positive for these hard-working guys. Not long after they had received the pictures, they appeared on their website on Facebook and on brochures, which meant that one had international recognition and several job assignments. Still, I see that they tour around Asia and it's a good feeling to know that my photos were a small contribution to helping this talented gang to break through and earn a well deserved salary for many years hard work and creativity.

Placa d'Espanya, Barcelona, Spania

We have the tradition of laying the holiday and the year's big destination until the date of our wedding day, September 9th. In 2015 it became Barcelona. A city that I visited for more than 15 years ago and then did not feel comfortable. But since then, the interest in photography has woken up and with it, the metropolis with its exciting architecture, centers and nightlife becomes much more exciting than just a "big city weekend".

The dinner of this wedding anniversary we decided to enjoy on the roof of Arenas de Barcelona, which is a round shopping mall at Plaza de Espana. Up here we found a restaurant where we could enjoy the sunset while we cost ourselves dinner and each other's company.

After dinner, we see that there are collections of people along the fence at the center and it usually means that something is happening that captures people's interest. And, quite right, there was a lot of public life, with all that belonged to jugglers and different artists. However, for me as a photographer with a sense of long exposure, the roundabout and the view turned towards the Museo Nacional de Arte de Catalunya, which became of interest.

And I was not alone because there were several photographers who had stood up, including a Filipino eye doctor, whom we talked to. He told us that what he had been looking for was Font Mágica, as this evening was passive. And, he was a bit disappointed with this as he had to move on the next day. However, it triggered us to come back the next day to see if we could get an active Font Mágica. And we got that because, as you see at the top of the picture here, there are lights and colors in the fountain.
With this and more pictures in the suitcase home, we decided that Barcelona is a city we will soon come back to.
